Dreaming a new world into being
A prayer for the earth, the feminine & our collective awakening
I don’t know that it’s possible to speak of a deep love for the feminine and simultaneously look the other way while our Earth Mother is being raped, ravaged and brutalized, or children in Gaza are being starved and bombed to death.
A spirituality that teaches us to look the other way while preaching love, light, and oneness is, to me, nothing more than privilege dressed up in white linen & mala beads. I have nothing against any of those things (I’ve always loved a good linen piece). I just want my words to be embodied. To carry weight.
My love for the feminine extends to all expressions of Her. If we are all one, then shouldn’t the pain of the Earth and our kin feel as our own? Shouldn’t a live-streamed genocide jolt us awake, sparking a sacred rage that burns those systems of domination to the ground?
Whatever is acted out on the earth body is acted out on my body. When a sister is oppressed, that is my oppression too. We are not truly free until all of us are free. We do not live in isolated bubbles but in an interconnected ecosystem. Our individual thrival depends on the thrival of the whole.
"My political activism always grew out of my spiritual understandings of the earth as the living Mother because the Goddess is injured wherever there is injustice, wanton cruelty, poverty, and pollution."
- Monica Sjöö, author of “The Great Cosmic Mother”
Capitalism severed our connection to the living, breathing ecosystem of interconnectedness - a truth every Indigenous and earth-based lineage has long known as embodied reality.
Capitalism and patriarchy are rooted in individualism, survival of the fittest, and the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few. The Earth is viewed as subordinate to man. A resource to be dominated and extracted from, rather than a living being to be in relationship with.
While these belief systems run deep within us, it’s important to remember they are man-made. When we turn to nature and indigenous traditions, we see a different model - one rooted in cooperation, mutual care, sharing, and reciprocity.
We are reminded that another world is not only possible - she’s already on her way.
What we’re witnessing now has been prophesied across traditions and lineages: the great awakening of humanity is unfolding.
And yet we are still in the early stages, where the darkness must be revealed.
And my god, is it dark.
The old systems are crumbling. And as they try to hold on to power with one final desperate grip, they grow more violent, more destructive.
This is the moment where connecting to our shared humanity becomes more essential than ever. Where speaking up, bearing witness, and refusing to let our hearts grow numb is sacred work.
We’re not meant to carry the weight of the world alone. But together, we can remember that another way is possible.
Our current paradigm was imagined by a collective consciousness about 5-6 thousand years ago and just as it envisioned a system built on domination, power in the hands of a few and an economy of war - so can we dream a more just world into being.
Manifestation teaches us that we cannot call in what we cannot first imagine.
We must feel it as if it’s already true. This applies not only to our personal lives, but to our collective reality.
So dream with me for a moment.
Close your eyes.
Return to the innermost chamber of your heart and ask:
“What kind of world do I desire to live in?”
I see a world rooted in partnership.
Collaboration between all peoples.
A world where there is enough.
Enough land. Enough resources. Enough nourishment for all.
Where the balance between giving and receiving is restored.
Where the feminine is returned to her rightful place - as guardian of the Earth and leader of humanity.
Palestine will be free.
Every colonized nation will be free from their oppressor.
Land will be returned to the original custodians.
Indigenous wisdom will guide the healing of the Earth.
What do you envision for the world? Are you able to dream of a different reality than the one we currently live in? What arises for you as you close your eyes and allow your heart to imagine any possible reality?
I invite you to make this a daily practice.
Every day, I close my eyes and imagine the world I wish to live in - for myself, and for all.
I make it as visceral as I can:
What does true abundance feel like?
What does safety taste like?
What does it sound like when all voices are heard, and all beings are fed?
Imagination and dream work are essential practices if we are to shift the collective consciousness towards a brighter future. It is powerful medicine that is not to be underestimated.
Let’s dream a new world into being, together.
